Tell us about yourself

I am Brisbane born and raised so my loyalties to the city run deep. I have a younger brother and sister – my ‘eldest child’ qualities can shine through from time to time. When I was younger I loved the movie ‘The Parent Trap’ but today my favourite TV show would be a toss up between ‘ER’ and ‘The Gilmore Girls’.  Each year I run the Bridge-to-Brisbane, but don’t look for me on the podium… I do it for fun and to celebrate my city. And I have the curliest hair in the Floss team!

When did you decide to become a dentist?

My parents tell me they knew when I fixed my little sister’s broken braces in my teens on Christmas Day, but the light bulb went on for me at the end of high school. I wanted a career in health – and one that was part doctor, engineer and artist was the perfect fit.

What would you say is your dental philosophy?

Exceptional and thorough dentistry, complete with enthusiasm and kindness. I like my patients to enjoy their dental visit while feeling comfortable and aware of what we are doing and why we are carrying out treatment.

How do you keep up to date with techniques, technology and teachings?

The dental world is always changing and evolving so it is pivotal that we keep up to date and follow current techniques. Regularly attending courses and lunch-and-learns, as well as utilising online resources such as webinars and reading dental journals, are some of the best and most engaging ways to make sure my patients receive state-of-the-art treatment and techniques.

As a dentist, what’s the best part of your day?

It’s this little moment when I know I’ve made an impact on how a patient feels about coming to the dentist. Whether it’s a little one’s first visit, or someone who has been many times before, I want that patient to have that feeling every time they come to visit.

What is the one thing you want patients to know about your work?

I take great pride in knowing that the work my patients receive is exceptional. They are my first and only priority when they are in my chair.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Relaxing and unwinding, with a little bit of adventure in between! I am an avid traveller and love going to cold places, particularly those with snow and rain. You won’t catch me at a scary movie, but I like watching a new release movie or seeing a show at QPAC. I also enjoy a good book and like to think I’m a bit of a Brisbane breakfast connoisseur.

What is something people may not know about you?

My biggest fear since I was little were lizards… once I ordered a dental textbook and was accidentally sent a book on reptilian surgery! I did not open it.

What would you do if you weren’t a dentist?

Probably a doctor or a teacher. Or a travel blogger!

Describe yourself in 3 words
